Registration for EDM: Bennett Centre - Histories and Stories of Ways of Life in Canada 2019 is Closed

Activities will explore the native lifestyle before European contact and learn the reasons for diverse native cultures. Students will also have the unique opportunity to view and handle relevant artifacts. Role-play, costumes and simulation activities will be used to support and encourage critical thinking. Half of this program takes place inside, the other half outside.

WHERE: The Bennett Centre, 9703-94 Street, Edmonton AB
WHEN: Friday, October 18
TIME: 9:30am-2:30pm
WHO: CFL Students Gr.4-7
COST: CFL Student = $18(Student Resource Allocation may be applied if available.Should a student exceed the Student Resource Allocation, it is the parents' responsibility to pay for the event or cancel registration.)
Sibling (best suited for attendees ages 9-13) = $18

This activity will meet some of the learning outcomes of Social Studies. Specifically, Unique aboriginal cultures and ways of life, Natural environment and geography of each area of Canada as factors of diversity, How artifacts and archeology contribute to our understanding, Role of the courier des bois and voyageurs in shaping Francophone history, Who were the Métis and their role in the fur trade, The British influence in Canada through the fur forts, and Languages spoken in the fur trade.

This event is suitable for students grades 4-12.
Risks: The general risks possible at all school events are listed in the Acknowledgment of Risk and Informed Consent below. Mitigating factors for each risk are stated as well. If you have questions or concerns please contact the Program Enhancement Coordinator hosting the event.

Supervision: Supervision ratios will be in accordance with School Board policy, Safety Guidelines for Physical Activity in Alberta Schools and venue requirements. Registration Timeline: Registration for CFL Siblings will commence 1 month following the date the event opens. Registration for CFL Siblings will open on September 19.
