Registration for GP: Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum Gr.1-3 2019 is Closed

A dragonfly with a 1 meter wing span! A 7-foot millipede! Students examine specimens of modern and prehistoric insects by looking at fossils and replicas. Participating in hands-on centres, the students learn about Arthropods of the past and present.

Curriculum Connections – Grade 2
Science Topic E – Small Crawling and Flying Animals: Students examine live and fossilized small crawling and flying animals and come to understand their basic needs of air, food, water, shelter and any special characteristics that help the animal survive in its home. Students learn about the structure and life habits, where modern invertebrates (i.e. spiders, worms and other insects) and prehistoric insects and animals lived, what they ate, what they were eaten by and features of the animals that suit them to their particular environment.

TIME: 1:00-2:30pm
WHO: CFL Students Gr.1-3
COST: CFL Student = $6 (Student Resource Allocation may be applied if available.Should a student exceed the Student Resource Allocation, it is the parents' responsibility to pay for the event or cancel registration.)
Parent/ Guardian = $11
Sibling (best suited for attendees ages 5-9) = $6

This activity will meet some of the learning outcomes of Science - Specifically Grade 2.

This event is suitable for students grades 1-3.
Risks: The general risks possible at all school events are listed in the Acknowledgment of Risk and Informed Consent below. Mitigating factors for each risk are stated as well. If you have questions or concerns please contact the Program Enhancement Coordinator hosting the event.

Supervision: Supervision ratios will be in accordance with School Board policy, Safety Guidelines for Physical Activity in Alberta Schools and venue requirements. Registration Timeline: Registration for CFL Siblings will commence 1 month following the date the event opens. Registration for CFL Siblings will open on September 19th.
